A History of Modern Europe: From the Renaissance to the Present
Available in both one-volume and two-volume paperback editions, A History of Modern Europe presents a panoramic survey of modern Europe from the Renaissance to the present day. A single author lends a unified approach and consistent style throughout, with an emphasis on the connections of events and people over time. The Third Edition, like the two before it, is authoritative and up-to-date. New to the Third Edition is the theme of empire. From the imperial rivalries between France and Spain in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, through the rise and fall of the Ottoman Turkish empire, and on into the imperial history of the twentieth century-decolonization, the spread of the Soviet empire, and the imperial power of the United States-the theme of empire helps students find commonalities among the events of European history....

In this tenth collection, Stephen Dunn turns his "wise, well-practiced eye" (Library Journal) on an America growing ever more stringent with its daily mercies. Not content merely to observe the world, Dunn's stance is always dual, complicit. Trading Price Action Trends: Technical Analysis of Price Charts Bar by Bar for the Serious Trader
Over the course of his career, author Al Brooks, a technical analysis contributor to Futures magazine and an independent trader for more than twenty years, has found a way to capture consistent profits regardless of market direction or economic climate. And now, with his new three-book series - which focuses on how to use price action to trade the markets - Brooks takes you step by step through the entire process.
In order to put his methodology in perspective, Brooks examines an essential array of price action basics and trends in this initial book. Page by page, he skillfully addresses how understanding price action and effectively reading price charts, bar by bar, can help you follow unfolding trends usually initiated by institutions and allow you to profitably piggyback onto their trades by setting up early entries with tight stops. Throughout the book, Brooks focuses primarily on 5 minute candle charts - all of which are created with TradeStation - to illustrate basic principles, but also discusses daily and weekly charts. And since he trades more than just E-mini S&P 500 futures, Brooks also details how price action can be used as the basis for trading stocks, forex, Treasury Note futures, and options....
Life of Saint Symeon the New Theologian
Today the Byzantine mystic, writer, and monastic leader Symeon the New Theologian (ca. 949 to 1022 CE) is considered a saint by the Orthodox Church and revered as one of its most influential spiritual thinkers. But in his own time a cloud of controversy surrounded him and the suspicion of heresy tainted his reputation long afterward. The "Life" was written more than thirty years after Symeon's death by his disciple and apologist the theologian Niketas Stethatos, who also edited all of Symeon's spiritual writings. An unusually valuable piece of Byzantine hagiography, it not only presents compelling descriptions of Symeon's visions, mystical inspiration, and role as a monastic founder, but also provides vivid glimpses into the often bitter and unpleasantly conflicted politics of monasticism and the construction of sanctity and orthodoxy at the zenith of the medieval Byzantine Empire. Although the many volumes of Symeon's spiritual writings are now readily available in English, the present translation makes the "Life" accessible to English readers for the first time. It is based on an authoritative edition of the Greek....
